Amy Leland – Director/Producer
Amy Leland Hemphill is in her thirteenth year as a stage director. After
receiving a BA in English from Rice University in Houston, TX, she began
working in various community and regional theaters in Houston and the
Hartford, CT, area. Directing credits include The Lover, Rosencrantz and
Guildenstern are Dead, Masterpieces, Cloud Nine, West Side Story, The
Normal Heart, and As Is, as well as numerous original plays. Acting
credits include the Nurse in Romeo and Juliet, Conrade in Much Ado About
Nothing, Portia in Julius Caesar, Peter Quince in A Midsummer Nights
Dream, and Emily Brontë in Masterpieces. She recently completed an MFA
degree in directing at the Actors Studio Drama School. Amy is in the
process of directing her first feature film, an original screenplay
called Children Lost, written by fellow Actors Studio Drama School
graduate Aurin Squire. She is also in post-production for her first
short film, and in pre-production for a documentary. Amy was the
recipient of a three year drama scholarship during graduate school, as
well as the Board of Governors Scholar award, and was chosen as the
school's 2004 nominee to the Princess Grace Foundation. After graduation
Amy was invited to join the Playwright and Directors' Workshop at the
Actors Studio. Amy is the co-founder of One-Eyed Cat Productions, a
production company dedicated to bringing the works of new writers to
life through film, theater production and music video.
